Oversized Dart

We received a call from William Hill who had very little time in which to find a giant dart for a promotional photoshoot. They wanted one so that the World Champion Darts player, Gary Anderson, could have his photo taken holding it to publicise the upcoming 2017 darts championship. The shoot was a week away and was to take place on the River Thames.

3D Lips

We were asked by our friends at Luga Baruga to make 3D lips for an installation outdoors at one of the UK’s largest Retail Outlets. The idea was to replicate a set of painted lips from a photoshoot for a magazine.

Cigarette Butts

We were asked by Keep Britain Tidy to make giant models of cigarette butts to place into a tank at Sea Life Manchester for a photoshoot to launch their latest campaign #BinTheButt to stamp out cigarette litter, which causes significant damage to marine life.

2019 was a busy year working for Microsoft-Rare. We had 3 Battletoads to make, some of which lit up and moved and some which were just huge. This is Zitz and his long body balanced on a very thin leg made this sculpt challenging, but we managed to make him stand firmly in his pose.

Chia Pots

We were asked by the Australian company The Chia Company to make some giant versions of their pots of chia dessert and of a packet of their seeds to help promote their brand in the UK. The pots had to be clear with the pudding inside and branded vinyl packaging.

Santa Sleigh & Drone

We were asked by The Drone Company to make a sleigh that could be fixed to one of their drones for Vodafone to control the first UK drone drop, remote gift delivery, entirely over their 4G mobile network. The sleigh had to be less than 10 kilos, and include a box that could hold gifts.

Halloween Pumpkin

A shopping centre in Glasgow wanted to install a Halloween photo opportunity for their customers and as it was Halloween, the obvious choice was a giant pumpkin that members of the public could get inside and have a photo taken of them peering out of the cut-out eyes and nose.

Chicken & Thor Hammer

Our friends at Plunge Creations passed our details to 05 Creative who had a project that was right up our street and so we were very happy to get involved. They were working with Hi-Rez Studios, a game developer, who have an online game called Smite. They needed a chicken and a Thor hammer with lightning effect. Hi-Rez had 2-D images of their chicken character and Thor’s hammer and it was our job to realise these in their 3-D form. The props were to be shipped to Germany for a gaming convention to promote their online game, Smite.

Magic Tap Prop

A magic tap built for The Boat Show; the tap looked as though it was suspended in mid air held up only by the jet of water. We used a submersible pump to keep the flow of water coming from the tap spout and to help the illusion. This project was for a water filtration system company who were exhibiting at The Boat Show, and we certainly enjoyed doing it.

These sculpts were being used to promote Microsoft’s Rare Games Division’s brand new exciting online platform game Sea of thieves at the E3 Gaming Expo, a video gaming conference and show in Los Angeles.

For the fifth year in a row we were asked by Microsoft-Rare Studios to create two new characters, brother and sister Demarco and Lesedi, for their ever-popular game Sea of Thieves. We were given artwork of both characters and had to create life-size versions. Because neither character had ever been rendered in a 3-D form it was down to us to translate the 2-D drawings in to their 3-D full size selves.

Retro TV's

Our client needed to find real retro TV’s to show promotional videos, but, as they are no longer in production, finding five second hand ones all of the same make was proving impossible. So they asked us if we could help. The retro television sets were going to be displayed at the White City House reception in the BBC Television Centre. The retro TV's needed to be able to incorporate modern day LED monitors to display promotional videos.

We were asked by Microsoft Rare to create four of their retro game characters – it’s fair to say all of our inner gamesters were jumping for joy. These retro sculpts were being used to promote Microsoft’s Rare Games Division’s back catalogue of video games at E3 – Electronic Entertainment Expo, a video gaming conference and show in Los Angeles.

Magnum Animal Heads

Our client Hot Pickle asked us to make three giant animal heads for a promotion they were working on for Magnum ice cream. We needed to make two of each of the heads which were to be attached, one on either side of a four-metre high by two-metre wide metal-framed panels. These were to be suspended above Regent Street, London, during Magnum’s Design your own Magnum Pop-up week. The heads had to be lightweight, and at a specific weight due to Health & Safety regulations given that they were to be suspended over the heads of thousands of shoppers.

We made 1500 sculptures for the Oscar-nominated film “Birdman”. Released in late 2014, the film received much critical acclaim and was something of a come-back role for Michael Keaton. The brief was that these were to be a very limited edition and they were not to look like they had been factory produced.

Well, this certainly isn’t something you see every day: a giant display prop of a packet of chia seeds standing in a doorway. But it happened! This project was commissioned to promote the company’s health food snacks in various locations where they have licensed outlets. We had to create, deliver and install the giant packet of chia seeds to one of the more illustrious stores in Kensington, London.

Warhammer Games

This was one we really loved working on: Games Workshop are world-famous and the manufacturer of miniature war games, including the famous Warhammer series, and it was the weapons of some of the characters from this that we were asked to produce for their head office and museum in Nottinghamshire.

You won’t be surprised to learn that we jumped at the chance to create a giant cereal box, complete with giant cereal pieces and chocolate chunks. Don’t worry, it’s not quite as odd as it sounds. We were asked to make this giant cereal box creation as a promotion for a new ride at Alton Towers, sponsored by Kellog’s Krave cereal. So we made it, delivered it and installed it to the theme park – making sure it looked good enough to eat.

Spur Girl Sculptures

We wanted a mascot, something that would showcase our skills and be a beautiful piece to hand out to prospective clients, something with a bit more impact than a business card. So we decided to sculpt Spur Girl. We wanted her to be cool and, because the MD is a fan of the Old Wild West, hence the name Spur (spurs on cowboy boots), she had to be a cowgirl.

Aida Opera

The opera Aida was shown at The Royal Albert Hall and we were asked to make all the prop elements for on-stage. The stage was vast and the sizeable objects we sculpted were dwarfed but due to the number of actors on stage, they needed space to move around. Our props had to be walked on, jumped on and danced on so they had to be robust but also light enough that they could be moved during scene changes as they had to be carried by the backstage crew.

Clear Cast Ice Blocks

One of our regular clients got in touch and asked us to help with a promotion they were working on for Braun. We were asked to create around 1,000 ice blocks to promote one of their new products: Braun CoolTec shavers. The plan was that they will be used in retail outlets worldwide as a point of sale for the new ‘ice cool’ product.

Their whole advertising campaign was based around the shaver feeling as cool as ice so naturally they came up with the idea to have their brand new project displayed in a block of ice in stores worldwide. The concept art shows what they were hoping to achieve and it was our job to make sure it happened.

WW2 Loan Boxes

The Imperial War Museum North asked us to design and create six Loan Boxes as part of their offsite provision for schools, young people and communities. Full of replica World War 2 paraphernalia, the aim of the boxes was to give an overview of areas of life that were impacted by the Second World War.

This time, we were asked by Ralph Lauren to replicate two of their heavy bronze horse sculptures in a lighter material for all their new store openings, meaning that they would be less expensive in both a manufacturing and shipping aspect. Due to the store windows being different dimensions, we had to make the vans modular so that they could be built at different lengths but still have an open side to display products.

We made this 1.8 metre diameter globe of the world prop with a 3 metre diameter ring to top the marquee entrance of the Goodwood Revival Ball. The ring which surrounds the globe had to be lightweight and fixed in position very securely due to the height it was being displayed.

Swipe Right PR, who support Coffee Stain Gaming, gave us a budget to work to and asked what we could make for the upcoming 2022 Gamescon gaming expo. They wanted something eye-catching and asked for some props as giveaways to hand out to the first 500 people at the stand. With 7 weeks until the show, we worked alongside them to produce an 8-foot-high fibreglass goat, Pilgor, the main character of the game Goat Simulator 3, and a selection of giveaway promotional props, which included masks, wearable comedy udders, edible grass, bell necklaces and stickers, each of the 500 presented in hessian drawstring bags with the Goat Simulator 3 logo printed onto the bag.

UFO Spaceship

Goodwood asked if we could design and make a spaceship prop that had crashed in their grounds for the 2022 Goodwood Festival Revival. We decided to design our very own classic UFO spaceship with lights, smoke and eerie alien sounds. We aren't sure if this can be classed as a giant prop as it was probably slightly less than the 'real' thing at a mere 8 metres diameter, but it certainly felt giant working on it.

Over sized children's books

The axiom 'never work with children or animals' is well known, but we enjoy a challenge, so making some giant prop children's books for a zoo was right up our street. We had a tight budget to work to on this one and yet we wanted to make the book props as well as we make all of our props, and we knew that they would be handled on a daily basis by lots of little hands during the summer months, so the construction of them had to be done just right. The books were replicas of Rod Campbell's well known lift-the-flap book, Dear Zoo, and the flaps would be opened hundreds of times so they had to be fit for purpose. Also, the event was outdoors so the books had to be made to take anything the British weather would throw at them.

We made a full size hot air balloon basket to go in the foyer of the Safari Hotel at Chessington World of Adventures. It had to have access in the rear for wheelchair access and be strong enough to take lots of knocks over the years from all the many thousands of visitors wanting to get their pictures taken.

Snoopy Literary Ace

We'd made the Snoopy prop last year for Goodwoof and they asked us to store the house we'd made for him to sit on so that this year they could use it again but with a different Snoopy sitting on top. This year it was to be Snoopy Literary Ace, complete with a sitting Snoopy sculpture and typewriter.

As with many of the projects we work on, there is very little time and this was no exception. Our client, Boldspace asked us to create 3 giant dart props to promote the Darts Championship. Each of the darts were to be placed in 3 different areas of the city and had to be installed overnight under the cover of darkness.

Waitrose arrow

We love making these types of props where they look as though they've crashed into the pavement. See the recent giant darts we made as an example of this, and a crashed UFO and spaceship. Our client wanted a promotional arrow prop for a Waitrose promotion and it had to be safe and grab everybody's attention and had to be installed in the dead of night so that passers by would be surprised when they saw this giant arrow that had seemingly crashed into the ground from a great height.
