A frieze based on Titian’s painting The Internment of Christ for the West End production of As You Desire Me
The brief from Paul Brown, the designer, was that a frieze be made based on Titian's painting. The depth had to be no more than 15cm so that it would fit into a recess above a doorway.
The frieze had numerous figures that needed to be fairly detailed
As we were carving from such a thin block of polystyrene, we had to be very careful that the finished frieze didn't look too flat and gave the illusion of depth
Bit by bit the polystyrene is carved away taking into account that it is only 15cm deep
