CASE STUDY 3Floor for Hampstead Theatre's production of Comfort Me With Apples Designed by Mike Britton ![]() Starting with a raked floor we built the area that would eventually hold polystyrene
mounds ![]() The polystyrene blocks are added
![]() And are smoothed out to form the shape of two mounds (for touring, the whole
area needed to come apart for ease of transportation)
![]() Carpet is placed on top and foam crumb is applied to it using strong glue and Idenden texture.
![]() On site at the theatre with 3 ladders placed into slots that have been welded underneath the main floor and each one at a specific angle.
![]() The front elevation of the stage showed exposed roots to give the impression that the whole front area had been dug away.
